Sir Stirling Moss has died at the age of 90. We always had great mutual pleasure in meeting him at major Peter Auto events of which he was often, and rightly so, the star.
He contested 10 Le Mans from 1951 to 1961, driving for the likes of Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Maserati and Mercedes-Benz, where he famously formed one of the best team ever in 1955 with Juan Manuel Fangio. They was leading the race before team’s withdrawal just before midnigh, consequence of the dramatic accident involving the Pierre Levegh’s Mercerdes. Stirling Moss finished two times 2nd, in 1953 and 1956. With 16 Grand Prix victories, he was also a highly regarded F1 driver. In the 90s and 2000s, he was several times at the start of the Tour Auto (this photo in 2001). We always had great mutual pleasure in meeting at major events of which he was often, and rightly so, the star. All at Peter Auto send our heartfelt condolences to Lady Susie and Sir Stirling’s family and friends.
